{"id":1540,"date":"2023-05-24T09:30:12","date_gmt":"2023-05-24T09:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/news\/?p=1540"},"modified":"2023-08-22T05:41:06","modified_gmt":"2023-08-22T05:41:06","slug":"princess-ship-completes-drydock-in-rotterdam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/news\/princess-cruises\/princess-ship-completes-drydock-in-rotterdam","title":{"rendered":"Princess Ship Completes Drydock in Rotterdam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, the Damen Verolme in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/departure-ports\/rotterdam\">Rotterdam<\/a> successfully performed a routine drydock on the Sky Princess.<\/p>\n<p>During its stay at the Dutch shipyard, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/departure-ports\/rotterdam\">Princess Cruises<\/a>&#8216; vessel underwent regular maintenance and technical upgrades for 16 days.<\/p>\n<p>Damen said a full hull painting program and the installation of class-certified parts were part of the scope of work.<\/p>\n<p>It took 1,200 crew members and 700 contractors around the clock to complete the project, which the shipyard called logistically challenging.<\/p>\n<div class=\"articles-video text-center\"><iframe class=\"hide\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2XGM-z7AGuE\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>On May 5, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/ships\/sky-princess\">Sky Princess<\/a> resumed service following a successful drydock.<\/p>\n<p>Southampton, England, is currently the departure point for a series of cruises departing from the 2019-built vessel.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Western Europe and the Norwegian Fjords, the program offers itineraries in the Mediterranean and the Baltic.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a special 14-night cruise to Iceland and Norway on the ship in May, along with a seven-night cruise to Scandinavia.<\/p>\n<p>As well as visiting Akureyri, Isafjord, and Grundarfjordur in Iceland, this two-week cruise also visits Skjolden, Olden, and Alesund in Norway.<\/p>\n<p>Sky Princess is scheduled to return to North America in November after spending the summer in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>From Princess&#8217; cruise terminal in Port Everglades, Florida, the vessel will start offering itineraries to the Caribbean and the Bahamas starting on Nov. 25.<\/p>\n<p>As the fourth ship in the Royal Class series, the Sky Princess entered service in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>A 141,000-ton cruise ship was built by Fincantieri in Italy, followed in 2020 by Enchanted Princess &#8211; which also recently completed a drydock.<\/p>\n<p>The Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Italy, handled routine maintenance on the 3,660-guest vessel after it arrived in Europe in March.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the Sapphire Princess visited the Vigor Shipyard in the U.S. West Coast for regular maintenance, alongside a third ship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, the Damen Verolme in Rotterdam successfully performed a routine drydock on the Sky Princess.
