A Blue Circle Award was presented to Disney Cruise Line<\/a> by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority for the 10th consecutive year, recognizing its involvement in the port’s voluntary EcoAction Programs and Energy Action Initiatives.<\/p>\n

Barry Compagnoni, DCL’s Vice President for Safety, Security and Environmental Policy and Compliance, commented, “This award is a testament to our long-standing commitment to operating responsibly and sustainably.” We are proud to continue our legacy of supporting a healthier environment by reducing emissions, conserving energy, and protecting the rich biodiversity of the region.<\/p>\n

An important way DCL reduces its environmental impact while sailing in Alaska and Canada is to turn off the ship’s engines and use the port’s shoreside electricity grid.<\/p>\n

The Disney Wonder<\/a> used shore power every time it called on Vancouver last year, where the port’s electric grid is fueled by hydro- and wind power.<\/p>\n

As part of The Walt Disney Company’s commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2030, DCL uses shore power as one of many ways to minimize its environmental impact.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the cruise line continues to invest in low-emission fuels, including ultra-low sulfur fuels on its Magic and Dream ships as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) on its newest vessels, as well as plans to use green methanol on a newly acquired ship that will be homeported in Singapore in 2025.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the company said it has eliminated virtually all single-use plastics across its fleet by switching to refillable bath product dispensers in guest staterooms, removing plastic bags from merchandise stores onboard, and replacing plastic water bottles with recyclable aluminum ones.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
