{"id":1898,"date":"2023-06-14T05:35:21","date_gmt":"2023-06-14T05:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/news\/?p=1898"},"modified":"2023-06-19T06:48:37","modified_gmt":"2023-06-19T06:48:37","slug":"viking-vela-next-viking-cruises-newbuild","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/news\/viking-expeditions-cruises\/viking-vela-next-viking-cruises-newbuild","title":{"rendered":"Viking Vela, next Viking Cruises newbuild"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/cruise-lines\/viking-expeditions-cruises\">Viking Cruises<\/a> ocean vessel will be named Viking Vela when it is completed at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being slightly larger than its predecessors, the ship is scheduled to debut in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>With a length of ten meters and a width of two meters, the Viking Vela is the eleventh vessel in a series that began with the Viking Star in 2015.<\/p>\n<div class=\"articles-video text-center\"><iframe class=\"hide\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PYxaleXjOPI\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Additionally, the newbuild will carry more passengers: 998 instead of 930.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the deployment of the ship, Viking Cruises has already published it on its website.<\/p>\n<p>When the Viking Vela begins service in 2024, it will offer itineraries to Scandinavia, the British Isles, Iceland, the Norwegian Fjords, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Viking says the new Vela offers all-balcony accommodations and is ideally sized to reach destinations where larger ships cannot dock. On the company&#8217;s website, the vessel is also noted for its &#8220;understated elegance and modern Scandinavian design.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As well as a fleet of identical midsized luxury ships, the cruise line also operates the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/ships\/viking-octantis\">Viking Octantis<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruisebooking.com\/ships\/viking-polaris\">Viking Polaris<\/a>, two expedition ships.<\/p>\n<p>Among the company&#8217;s ocean vessels in Asia is the Zhao Shang Yi Dun.
