Meyer Turku announced on its Facebook page that Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas is leaving for its first set of sea trials this weekend.<\/p>\n

Icon has left the outfitting pier for the first time, and is proceeding towards the sea as she continues her journey through the Turku archipelago. “Icon’s systems and features will be tested during the sea trial, which cannot be tested while docked,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n

The Icon project would not have been possible without everyone involved! Meyer’s top professionals from many different fields combine their expertise to make Icon seaworthy.
\n\u201cLet’s wish Icon of the Seas a safe voyage, and get ready to welcome her back to the shipyard after her trials! \u201d<\/p>\n

It is scheduled to begin sea trials this weekend for the 5,610-passenger ship. Various tests will be conducted on the ship before it returns to the shipyard. Before the ship’s fourth quarter delivery to Royal Caribbean<\/a>, more sea trials are expected to take place over the summer and into the fall.<\/p>\n
