Onboard Mardi Gras, Carnival Cruise Line<\/a> crew members responded to a call from the U.S. Coast Guard in response to a request to rescue a couple from a sailboat early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

As the Coast Guard’s call was received by the ship’s officers, the couple was stranded about 20 nautical miles from Castle Island, Bahamas<\/a>, and less than nine miles from Mardi Gras.<\/p>\n

Mardi Gras’ lifeboat was lowered to the sailboat as the ship’s crew neared it early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

His care is being provided by the medical team on board once he was admitted to the onboard medical center.<\/p>\n

Port Canaveral<\/a>, Fla., is the departure port for Mardi Gras’ eight-day Caribbean voyage. On Tuesday, the ship will arrive in Aruba according to its planned itinerary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
