Royal Caribbean Group has officially signed an agreement with Chantiers de l\u2019Atlantique to build a sixth ship in the Edge Series, set to join Celebrity Cruises<\/a> in 2028.<\/p>\n

The new vessel will be a sister ship to the Celebrity Xcel, which is scheduled to debut later this year. The Edge Series already includes Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Beyond, and Celebrity Ascent, making the new addition another milestone in this celebrated lineup.<\/p>\n

\u201cCelebrity\u2019s Edge Series redefined premium travel at sea, blending groundbreaking design and unforgettable guest experiences. Each ship in this award-winning series has set a new standard for the industry, and Celebrity Xcel, sailing later this year, is no exception,\u201d said Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. \u201cPartnering with Chantiers de l\u2019Atlantique to expand the Edge Series with Edge 6 is another milestone in our mission to deliver the world\u2019s best vacations responsibly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, expressed excitement about the new ship. \u201cCelebrity Xcel will be the happy place of vacationers globally when she launches in November, and we\u2019re thrilled to be making this commitment to bring her a sister ship in Edge 6,\u201d she said. \u201cCelebrity Xcel will take forward the best of Edge Series ships coupled with seven new experiences, all perfected with the help of our recently announced Xcel Dream Makers \u2013 an industry-first program enlisting the power of cruisers to make final decisions across culinary, interior design, and entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laurent Castaing, Chief Executive Officer of Chantiers de l\u2019Atlantique, highlighted the collaboration\u2019s success. \u201cThe strong ties between Chantiers de l\u2019Atlantique and Royal Caribbean Group have led to the creation of the unique Edge Series design,\u201d he said. \u201cThis sixth ship marks the epitome of a pioneering series in the cruise industry that is both elegant, high-performing, and ever more innovative, notably thanks to its methanol capabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
