New Brunswick’s Port Saint John will welcome back Oasis of the Seas

By Cruise Booking Team

Maritime New Brunswick’s Port Saint John will welcome back the world’s largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, on Tuesday.

With more than 8,000 passengers and crew on board, Oasis will make a record-breaking visit to the port as it makes an additional 1,000 passengers than it did in 2022. There will be an almost doubled population of the south end peninsula for a day if this is implemented.

Economic impact

Natalie Allaby, cruise development manager at Port Saint John, said the ship will be returned to the port this summer. There will be thousands of new people strolling the streets of Saint John until the ship departs at 6:45 p.m. Situated on the waterfront, Saint John is home to many local businesses and residents, so expect to see thousands of new faces in the city before the ship departs at 6:45 p.m.

According to Port Saint John, the cruise industry contributes more than $68 million to the economy of the city and southern New Brunswick each year. The Bay of Fundy region is also a major source of direct spending by cruise lines, passengers, and crew of cruise ships, as well as direct jobs for the people of New Brunswick.

Almost 200,000 passengers this season

The number of passengers this season is almost 200,000

Port Saint John has been welcoming cruise ships for 34 years in 2023. Over the six-month season, 86 calls carrying almost 200,000 passengers are scheduled. 10 inaugural calls and 14 double ship days are also highlights of the season.
