Over 26 children's playsets are located on 3.5 acres of easy-to-navigate grounds. If you enjoy nature and gardens, you must visit UC Davis Arboretum and Garden. You may have to pick and choose what to see and do, but leave yourself enough time to discover the Arboretum and Public Garden, which are spread across a 5,300-acre campus. It includes demonstration gardens and scientific collections and 100 acres of historical arboretum. There is a riparian reserve along Putah Creek in the Arboretum. Its surrounding grasslands and stream provide habitat to various birds and wildlife. To explore the Arboretum, you can choose from three different walks. Among the many places to visit here, do not miss the stunning mural at the Ruth Risdon Storer Garden, the redbud collection in bloom in early spring, and the Hummingbird GATEway Garden, where you visit in early spring, you can see up to five types of hummingbirds depending on the season. About 17 miles south of Sacramento is the Arboretum at 1046 Garrod Drive. The Arboretum and gardens are open 24 hours a day, year-round.
One can visit Sacramento from April to June and from September to November. California's State Fair comes to Sacramento in July, when the Central Valley experiences a lot of heat. Most Sacramento festivals take place in May and June.
