1. Baltra Island

Also known as South Seymour Island, Baltra is located off the north coast of Santa Cruz. It is the smallest island, which is situated at the centre of the Galapagos Island. The island is home to palo santo trees, cactus and prickly pears. The island is also the oldest military base of Ecuador and the Seymour airport on Baltra Island is said to receive tourists from Quito and Guayaquil.

Baltra is used as an Ecuadorian Naval Base.

2. San Cristobal Island

Home to the provincial capital Puerto Baquerizo, San Cristobal has the main airport for tourists. It is now a coastal village. This is where you will begin or finish all your adventures in Galapagos.

3. Isabela Island

The largest island takes over around 58% of the entire Galapagos archipelago. Despite being exotic and beautiful, it doesn't have much population but is not visited by people. There are numerous intermittently active volcanoes, making Isabela the most volcanically active place on earth.

4. Santa Fe Island

The minuscule size of Santa Fe makes it a must-visit island in Galapagos. This island is ideal for taking trips during the daytime. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll be able to see the unique iguanas which can be found nowhere else. You’ll also find marine iguanas, endemic rice rats, and a sea lion colony. 5. Santa Cruz Island

The second-largest must-see island in Galapagos is the hub for major tourist activities. In Puerto Ayora, you will find the most famous harbor, Academy Bay, the California Academy of Sciences.
