The ship was built in 1956 for the Coastal Voyage Fleet and was extensively modernized in 2000 for the Arctic only. Now she takes explorers on adventures in the waters around Svalbard. Despite modernization, she still retains the feel of an old Atlantic ship that has been restored to its former glory with new brass, classic wood interiors, and all of the original art. On deck, you can get particularly close to the pristine nature of the Arctic, and a large portion of the deck is covered by a canopy, allowing you to enjoy outdoor living even in stormy weather.
The MS Nordstjernen has a dining room, bar, café, panoramic lounge and library. Inside there are cozy inside and outside cabins, most of which have upper and lower bunks. All rooms and terrace areas are made of beautiful old wood.
It is your decision whether or not to approve the services provided by our crew in bars, restaurants and cabins. No matter how much you want to donate, please fill out the form in your room and send it to the front desk at least two days before her cruise ends. The amount will then be deducted from your cruise account.
