MSC Cancels First MSC Euribia Sailing of 2026 European Season

By Cruise Booking Team

MSC Cruises has officially cancelled the first scheduled European sailing of the MSC Euribia, which was set to depart on May 2, 2026, from Kiel. This cruise was expected to mark the beginning of the ship’s European summer season, offering a scenic seven-night journey through the Norwegian Fjords. However, unexpected operational delays have forced the company to withdraw from this departure.

Delay Linked to Ongoing Middle East Situation

The cancellation comes because of the ship’s delayed repositioning from Dubai, where it has been docked since late February. According to MSC Cruises, the vessel has been unable to depart the region as originally planned due to the current situation in the Middle East. This disruption has directly impacted the ship’s schedule, making it impossible for the ship to reach Northern Europe in time.

In its official communication, MSC clarified that the decision was not made lightly. The company emphasized that the cancellation was unavoidable, considering all possible alternatives, ensuring passenger safety and operational feasibility remain in the top priorities.

Planned Itinerary for the Cancelled Norwegian Fjords Cruise

The cancelled sailing was set to operate from both Kiel and Copenhagen, taking guests on a breathtaking itinerary through Norway. The cruise included stops at some of the region’s most iconic destinations, including:

This itinerary is known for its dramatic fjords, waterfalls, and picturesque landscapes, making it a popular choice among cruise travelers.

Options Offered to Affected Passengers

MSC Cruises has provided flexible options to support guests who have been impacted by the cancellation. Travelers can choose from the following alternatives:

1. Rebook a Cruise Before November 30, 2026

Passengers can transfer their booking to any available sailing departing before November 30, 2026, without paying any change fees. MSC also guarantees the best available fare for the same cabin category and duration. Additionally, guests will receive onboard credit of up to €200 per person.

2. Select a Future Sailing After December 1, 2026

Guests can also choose a cruise departing after December 1, 2026. In this case, the new cruise price will apply, and any payments already made will be transferred to the new reservation without penalties.

3. Full Refund Option

For travelers who prefer not to reschedule, MSC is offering a full refund with no cancellation fees. This ensures that guests have complete flexibility if their travel plans cannot be adjusted.

MSC’s Commitment to Passenger Experience

MSC Cruises acknowledged the disappointment caused by this unexpected change, especially for travelers who had been planning their vacations for months. The company reassured guests that this decision was purely due to operational delays and not a discretionary move. By offering multiple compensation and rebooking options, MSC aims to maintain customer trust and provide a smooth alternative travel experience.
