Chernesky appointed to SVP role at Norwegian Cruise Line

By Cruise Booking Team

A press release announced today that Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. has appointed John Chernesky Senior Vice President of Sales for North America, replacing Todd Hamilton, who will assume the role of Senior Vice President of New Ventures. In a press release, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises are all under the umbrella of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH).

Under the direction of newly appointed NCL President David Herrera, Cherensky will oversee the brand’s overall trade sales strategy across the U.S. and Canada. He has a reputation for championing the role travel partners play in the success of the cruise industry as well as the guest experience.

Norwegian Cruise Line president David Herrera said: “We are thrilled to have John join our family and to bring his dynamic energy to our company.” In line with our Partners First philosophy, he has demonstrated an innovative approach to fostering and strengthening relationships with travel partners, so we are confident that he will continue our commitment to this community, which is crucial to our success.

With his new role, Chernesky will strengthen NCL’s legacy Partners First philosophy of investing in and supporting travel advisors by providing educational tools, marketing support, and access to programs and opportunities to help them earn more. This was the first year in history that a major cruise company paid commission on non-commissionable fares. Many advisors submitted marketing plans to NCL, demonstrating their commitment to NCL and driving sales through the revolutionary program. Advisors are now able to advance commission tiers more quickly based on their net bookings or booked revenue, thanks to the brand’s recent commission tier updating.

A 30-year veteran of the cruise industry, Chernesky has held numerous leadership roles in a variety of disciplines, including sales and trade marketing, hotel operations, revenue generation onboard, business development, new build design development, and passenger programs. He has a proven track record of implementing and executing solutions and programs that drive sales and increase guest satisfaction.

According to Chernesky, Norwegian Cruise Line delivers exceptional experiences and puts partners first. As someone who is passionate about the industry and who is continually inspired by their passion, I am a huge advocate for the trade community, which plays such a crucial role in the success of the industry. NCL is an incredible and dedicated team, so I am thrilled to be back in the game.”

Hamilton will spearhead new strategic business developments and work closely with NCLH’s executive team to deliver the company’s strategic goals as Senior Vice President of New Ventures.

Herrera continued, “Todd played a crucial role in leading the sales team during the pivotal period of our great cruise comeback. His efforts are greatly appreciated, and we congratulate him on his new role.”
