NCL Holdings welcomes Patrik Dahlgren

By Cruise Booking Team

The company has announced the appointment of Patrik Dahlgren to the position of Executive Vice President, Vessel Operations, NCLH announced.

According to Harry Sommer, NCLH President and CEO-Elect, Dahlgren will oversee NCLH’s three brands’ marine and technical operations, hotel operations, entertainment, cruise programs, and security.

She succeeds Robin Lindsay, who will oversee the company’s new build and refurbishment programs.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings president and chief executive officer-elect Harry Sommer said, “Through Patrik’s breadth of experience, we are confident we will have a strong executive leadership team going forward.” Over the course of an impressive 20-plus year career in the cruise industry, Patrick has developed an in-depth understanding of all aspects of cruise operations, making him uniquely qualified to serve as this president. As we grow our fleet and strive to achieve our business and financial goals, his track record of building diverse, inclusive, and performance-oriented teams aligns closely with NCLH’s core values.”

As Sommer continued, we would like to congratulate Robin as he oversees our robust newbuild program, which includes seven new ships scheduled for delivery across our three brands by 2028, as well as refurbishing existing ships. Robin was a natural choice for the role after leading the introduction of ten groundbreaking vessels during his tenure at the company.

NCLH welcomes Dahlgren, who spent more than 23 years in leadership positions at Royal Caribbean Group, most recently as Senior Vice President of Global Marine Operations.

While serving in that role, Dahlgren directed more than 10,000 team members across more than 60 ships across several brands. As part of his duties, he worked on the design development of newbuilds and innovation projects. He also led the operator’s decarbonization and energy programs. A member of NCLH and Royal Caribbean Group’s nHealthy Sail Panel, Dahlgren was a key contributor to the cruise industry’s comeback post-COVID. Prior to that, Dahlgren served as Vice President of Technical Operations (2014-2016) and Director of Newbuild and Innovation (2011-2013). He spent over a decade at sea as a captain, gaining firsthand knowledge of the ins and outs of ship operation before joining shoreside management.

Dahlgren added, “It is an honor to join NCLH, a trio of brands that offer outstanding vacation experiences across their fleets and private islands. Ever since I began working on cruise ships in 1999, this truly unique industry has held a special place in my heart. NCLH is an impressive organization and I am excited to begin my next chapter in my maritime career there.

According to Dahlgren, he is a strong believer in empowering people and strengthening cross-functional collaboration in order to accelerate progress. Taking NCLH forward into the future, I hope to combine tradition, innovation, and technological advancement to achieve greater success. It is my pleasure to take on this role and bring a fresh perspective as we strive to deliver exceptional vacation experiences for our guests and create a positive impact on society and the environment.
