A press release stated that Oceania Cruises christened its new ship Vista on May 8 in Valletta, Malta.
Frank A. Del Rio, president of Oceania Cruises, said, “We have been eagerly anticipating this historic day for more than ten years.” Vista’s impeccable onboard experience perfectly aligns with the world-class ceremony, which includes stunning design, exceptional entertainment, outstanding service, and innovative culinary delights. Having reached Vista’s grand debut is only possible because of the hard work of our team members and partners worldwide.”
An exceptional performance by Harry Connick, Jr. followed the ship’s christening by its godmother, chef, author, and restaurateur Giada De Laurentiis.
Giada De Laurentiis expressed her gratitude for being chosen as godmother of this beautiful new ship and being part of this glorious night in Malta. The Vista is a dream ship, from its incredible culinary experiences to thoughtful details at every turn. It’s been a pleasure sailing aboard her for this inaugural season.
Featuring 11 onboard culinary outlets, including Aquamar Kitchen, The Bakery at Baristas, and Ember, the Vista can accommodate up to 1,200 guests. In addition to Toscana, the Italian specialty restaurant De Laurentiis will create two signature dishes.
A 60-minute concert by Connick was performed after De Laurentis was officially named and christened.
The occasion of Vista’s entry into service was extra special to me. As Harry Connick, Jr. says, “I’ve performed on countless special events.”
