Disabled Facilities

Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate the special needs of cruise passengers with disabilities, but cannot be held responsible for denial of service by airlines, hotels, restaurants or other independent suppliers.Coach is not equipped with a wheelchair ramp and the room door is not wide enough for standard wheelchair access.

Due to space constraints, wheelchairs and walkers cannot be carried on the bus. Wheelchair users should be aware of these restrictions. For safety reasons, passengers in wheelchairs are not allowed to travel on the port ramp where the ship is docked. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide individual assistance to tour members with walking, getting on and off tour buses or other transport vehicles, or other personal needs. Travelers requiring assistance must be accompanied by a qualified travel companion.

Smoking Policy

All ships are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted only on the sundeck. For the safety and comfort of all passengers on board, please help us adhere to our no-smoking policy.

Dietary Requirements

If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let your travel agent know before boarding or call us directly. In most cases we do our best to accommodate special dietary requirements and food allergies, with one exception being Kosher. This meal has specific rules regarding food and its preparation, and there are restrictions in the in-flight environment that cannot adequately meet these dietary needs. While we can offer options to accommodate food allergies and sensitivities, we cannot guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur.

Dress Code

The dress code is loose. Light and comfortable clothing is ideal during the day, but smart casual clothing is recommended for the nights on board. You may want to bring something more elegant

There are welcome and farewell dinners and special events, but no black ties or formal evenings.

Light to medium weight clothing and rain gear for cool or wet weather are recommended. Layers are a great option for covering different temperatures and for changing conditions.

Comfortable shoes are essential as some excursions require stairs or ramps to get on and off.

If your visit includes churches, monasteries, synagogues, or mosques, wear casual clothing that covers your body well (eg, cover your shoulders and wear trousers or knee-length dresses).

Age Restrictions

On our programmes in Europe & Southeast Asia, children under the age of 4 years old are not permitted onboard and children 4-7 years old are not recommended. On our Africa programme, due to safety precautions, there is a minimum age limit of 12 years old, unless otherwise agreed upon by AmaWaterways. All guests under the age of 18 are to be in a stateroom with an adult, and must remain supervised at all times, as their safety is the responsibility of the accompanying adult(s). Children between the ages of 4 – 10 at the time of embarkation may share a stateroom with 2 adults provided the child is able to share the bed with the adults – no additional bed will be provided. Select ships offer a limited number of staterooms with a fold out sofa for a triple occupant, we would be happy to guide you through these options when available. A triple occupancy rate will apply for the child sharing the stateroom, pricing can be provided upon request. Please be aware that balcony staterooms of any kind may be unsafe for small children if left unsupervised. AmaWaterways does not provide child-specific programmes or child-minding facilities. Please reach out to us if you have any further questions regarding our child policy.
