Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth enters Singapore Dry dock

By Cruise Booking Team

Singapore is currently performing a scheduled dry docking on the Queen Elizabeth.

A Cunard vessel has ended its cruise in Singapore and is headed to a shipyard for regular maintenance over the next two weeks.

As part of the ship’s maintenance, class work, maintenance of the hotel, technical re-work, and other minor upgrades will be performed. April 3 is the scheduled date for the Queen Elizabeth to resume service following the completion of the work program.

Japan is the destination of the 90,400-ton vessel sailing from Singapore.

After visiting Vietnam, the Philippines and Taiwan, the ship will come to Yokohama, a port near Tokyo, for its 16-night voyage, which marks Cunard’s return to the country.

Queen Elizabeth departed Japan in May and repositioned to North America before a summer program in Alaska.

During the ship’s last major refit in 2019, Damen shipyard performed the work. While in drydock, the Queen Elizabeth received technical and hotel updates throughout the 12-day period.

As part of the installation of twin exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS), along with all the pipe and duct work, two cabins were removed to accommodate new equipment.

The ship’s spa and retail areas were upgraded during the refurb, along with staterooms and corridors.

In 2010, the Queen Elizabeth first entered service, sharing a similar design to the Queen Victoria built in 2007.

The hotel includes a number of dining options and an art deco interior designed to honor the ocean liner heritage of Cunard.

A silver model of the famous 1967-built ship is on display in the ship’s Yacht Club.

There is a spiral staircase leading up to the QE’s two-story library, which holds 6,000 books.
