Princess Cruises has rolled out a native app within ChatGPT, aimed at making it simpler for guests to research and plan their cruises.
By tagging @princesscruises and adding the Princess plugin within ChatGPT, guests can browse cruises, check pricing and availability, and fine-tune their plans, all without leaving the conversation. According to a press release from the company, Princess is the first cruise line to launch this kind of integration.
“There is a broader shift in travel discovery as consumers increasingly use generative AI not simply to find information, but to help evaluate choices and plan increasingly complex trips,” said Neena Vicente, Princess Cruises’ vice president of digital commerce and experience. “This launch places Princess at the forefront of agentic commerce in the cruising industry, creating a new entry point into cruise discovery that inspires guests to find the vacation that is right for them.”
Through the app, guests are able to:
The tool is built to let travelers keep refining their search naturally within the same chat. As an example, someone researching an Alaska cruise could follow up by asking which sailings stop at Glacier Bay National Park, which ones leave from Seattle, or how two specific itineraries compare to one another.
“We’re building ChatGPT to help people move from discovery to action. Princess Cruises’ app brings that experience into the cruise industry, showing how AI platforms and travel brands can work together to make planning more seamless, useful and conversational,” said Rosemary DeAragon, head of technology & consumer industries at OpenAI.
For now, the app is only available through ChatGPT, but Princess said it plans to bring the experience to other compatible AI platforms down the line.
