Households expect to spend an average of $970 on Halloween this year, with almost one-third planning to spend more than ever before.

The idea of celebrating Halloween at sea is also appealing. One in three Australians (33 percent) say they like the idea of a Halloween cruise, while 26 percent say a Halloween-themed holiday would inspire them to travel.
