Queen Elizabeth Pays an Inaugural Visit to Port Lincoln

By Cruise Booking Team

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, the Port of Lincoln had the distinction of welcoming Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth for the first time, as noted in a recent press release.

This inaugural visit of the Queen Elizabeth to Port Lincoln was part of a revised itinerary, prompted by unfavorable weather conditions in Queensland. The occasion was marked by a special ceremony where the City of Port Lincoln’s Mayor, Diana Mislov, and Chief Executive Officer, Eric Brown, presented a commemorative welcome plaque to the ship’s captain.

Mayor Diana Mislov expressed pride and honor in receiving such a prestigious vessel. “To welcome such a prestigious cruise ship to our shores is an extraordinary honor and is evidence of the exceptional welcome program we offer, and the breadth of activities passengers can enjoy whilst in our region. I know our cruise volunteers will provide the outstanding level of warmth and service that they have become renowned for.”

Naomi Blacker, Manager of Economic and Tourism Growth, remarked on the significance of this visit. “This unscheduled arrival brings the number of cruise ships to Port Lincoln this cruise season to ten.” Blacker emphasized the immediate economic impact of cruise passengers and the long-term benefits, including potential repeat visits and positive recommendations.

The Queen Elizabeth is currently on a 17-night Tasmania and Queensland journey, which commenced from Sydney on January 15.
