Environmental Policy

MS Midnatsol follows strict environmental practices to reduce its impact on the planet:

Waste Management:

• All wastewater is processed properly.
• General waste is treated onboard to reduce volume before being offloaded ashore.
• Recycling is prioritized whenever possible.

Air Emissions Reduction: 

• Fuel-saving measures are in place.
• The hull is coated with special materials to improve efficiency.
• Low-energy lamps are used throughout the ship.
• Waste heat is recycled to reduce energy use.
• Air conditioning systems are optimized for energy savings.
• The crew continues to explore new eco-friendly technologies.

Smoking Policies

• Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not allowed in staterooms, balconies, or public areas.
• Designated smoking areas are provided on open decks.

Exception:

• Cigar and pipe smokers are welcome in the Cigar Lounge, a space created based on guest feedback to ensure comfort and safety for all.

Alcohol Policy

• Duty-free alcohol can be purchased onboard and will be delivered to staterooms on the final day of the cruise.
• Guests may bring one 750ml bottle of wine or champagne per person for special occasions. A corkage fee applies if consumed in restaurants or bars.

Age Restrictions:

• Passengers under 18 years cannot purchase or drink alcohol.
• In U.S. waters, the minimum drinking age is 21 years.

Emergency Drills

• MS Midnatsol ensures passenger safety with mandatory emergency drills before departure, following international maritime regulations.

Safety Procedures:

• Emergency instructions and assembly routes are outlined in a folder in every stateroom.
• Life jackets are provided in each cabin. Children's life jackets can be requested from the steward.

• English is the official language for announcements, signage, and printed materials.

Express Check-out

• MS Midnatsol offers a quick and easy check-out process:

For Credit Card Holders:

• If you provide your credit card information at check-in, there’s no need to settle your account in person.
• A final bill will be delivered to your stateroom before disembarkation.

For Cash Payments:

• Guests paying by cash must leave a deposit at the start of the cruise and settle their accounts before departure.

VAT on Bar and Dining Charges

While sailing in Spanish waters, a 10% VAT will apply to:

• Bar purchases
• Dining cover charges
• Room service orders

The VAT will be included in the listed prices and itemized separately on receipts.

European VAT on Shops, Photos, and Spa Products

• If the cruise does not visit ports outside the EU, VAT will apply to onboard purchases in the shops, Photo Gallery, and spa product sales.
• VAT does not apply to spa treatments or services.

VAT Exceptions:

• Liquor and tobacco cannot be purchased for take-home use during VAT periods.
• VAT details for specific voyages will be announced in the ship’s daily newsletter.
