Accessibility

• All impaired mobility guests are accepted.
• If possible, please bring your foldable wheelchair.
• If you are able to move around the vessel freely, a companion is not required. If not, then you might want to travel with one.
• Ramps are available in most docks; however, Urke, for instance, has tender boats that are not wheelchair accessible.
• Please advise us of any mobility requirements when making your reservation.

Dietary Requirements

• Special requests for meals, such as vegetarian, shall be considered prior to the departure.
• 12-day voyages have hard-core vegan options available.
• Strict diet restrictions may not be applicable in some cases.

What to Pack

• There is a relaxed dress code policy while on board, including during dinner.
• Dress in layers in preparation for changes in weather alterations.
• A rain gun and appropriate footwear are highly recommended, particularly for field activities.
• Winter holidays include warm thermal wear and gloves in the pack.

Age Limitations

• Antarctica: the minimum age of participants is 5 years.
• For all other destinations, there are no such restrictions.
• Children who are less than 12 years old may be allowed to go on ashore at the captain's decision.

Policy on Smoking and Tobacco Use

• They only permit smoking (including e-smoking devices) within the outside designated smoking areas.
• No smoking allowed when refueling the craft.

Safety Briefing

• A compulsory brief on safety is done before take-off, 10-15 minutes before actual take-off.
• It also consists of a life jacket demonstration and emergency action instructions.
• This brief is a must for all the passengers, even those who have taken the cruise before.

Wi-Fi

• Internet is available on the ship but for browsing only. Streaming is not allowed on the cruise.
• It may disconnected in some remote places onboard the ship.

Excursions

• Pre-book excursions to avoid disappointment.
• Book up to 4 weeks before departure (2 weeks if paying by credit card).
• Excursions depend on weather, sea conditions, and participant numbers.

Pets

• Some ships offer pet cabins, but not all. Explorer ships don’t have pet cabins.

• Laundry rooms with washers, dryers, and irons are available.
• Tokens can be purchased at reception.

Medical Assistance

• No doctor onboard, but crew are trained in first aid.
• Urgent medical assistance is available onshore if needed.

Environmental Efforts

• Hurtigruten is committed to protecting the environment.
• No single-use plastics since 2018.
• Passengers encouraged to sort waste and save energy (e.g., turn off lights).
• Dispose of litter responsibly when ashore.
• Follow guides’ advice to avoid disturbing wildlife.
