Three Holland America Ships to Sail Long Voyages in 2027-28 Season

From September 2027 through March 2028, Holland America Line will deploy three of its ships on a rich season of cruises across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.

This lineup brings longer itineraries, ranging from 14 to 35 days, designed to offer deep, immersive exploration of the region.

Paul Grigsby, Vice President of Deployment and Revenue Planning at Holland America, said the season is all about “authentic experiences”, whether that means taking in the soaring fjords of Milford Sound, swimming in Fiji’s crystal waters, or spotting native wildlife.

One of the standout changes in this new schedule is the introduction of overnight stays at three special ports: Melbourne (Australia), Cairns (Australia), and Lautoka (Fiji). These are not just day-stop calls, guests will have more time to soak in the local culture, cuisine, and landscapes.

Grigsby emphasized that these overnight calls let travelers linger longer and explore more richly: “We’ve added time for guests to linger longer, joining a growing list of ports where we extend the experience beyond a single day.”

Holland America 2027–2028 Australia & New Zealand Cruise Itineraries

Here are some of the key itineraries on offer:

• 26-day “Australia, Coral Sea & Fiji Legendary Voyage” on Westerdam, leaves January 4, 2028. Visits 14 ports across Tonga, Fiji, and Vanuatu, and includes overnight stays in Cairns and Lautoka.
• 35-day “Hawaii, Tahiti & Marquesas Legendary Voyage” on Zaandam, departs October 14, 2027, or February 19, 2028. These sailings include up to 13 port calls (October) or 10 (February), with overnights in Tahiti, Hawaii (Honolulu), Papeete, Moorea, and Raiatea.
• 34-day “Legendary South Pacific Crossing” on Westerdam, starts Sept 19, 2027, sailing from Seattle via 14 ports including Honolulu and Papeete.
• 16-day “South Australia Discovery Holiday” on Westerdam, begins Dec 19, 2027, round-trip from Sydney, celebrating the holiday season with themed events.
• 14-day “Australia & New Zealand” cruise, multiple departures between Sydney and Auckland. Some sailings include Milford Sound scenic cruising.
• 14-day “New Zealand Discovery” round-trip cruise from Sydney on Feb 13, 2028, visiting eight New Zealand ports with scenic cruising in Milford Sound.

On board these cruises, guests can expect regional-themed programming, local cuisine, and more than 100 shore tours across wildlife-rich and UNESCO heritage destinations.
