Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas is on her way back to North America, following a major refurbishment in Europe and a summer season sailing from the United Kingdom.
The Freedom-class ship set off on a repositioning voyage to Galveston on October 16, 2026. The 15-night cruise departs from Southampton and calls at destinations in Spain and Portugal, including Vigo, Lisbon and Funchal, before arriving in Texas.
Once in Galveston, Liberty will begin a year-round program of short cruises to the Western Caribbean. The four- and five-night sailings include visits to Mexican ports such as Cozumel and Costa Maya. On select dates, the 3,812-passenger ship will also offer longer itineraries, among them a nine-night voyage in August 2027 calling at Cozumel, Roatán, George Town and Falmouth.
The Galveston deployment runs through April 2028, when Liberty is scheduled to head back to Europe for the summer. The return to the Mediterranean will feature departures from Barcelona, Piraeus and Civitavecchia.
Earlier this year, the ship went through a refit in France as part of Royal Caribbean’s Royal Amplified program. The 2007-built vessel received additional staterooms along with a series of upgrades, including major changes to its public spaces. New venues include a Starbucks and Izumi Teppanyaki, which serves Japanese cuisine and offers a hibachi experience. Royal Caribbean also expanded the ship’s Casino Royale, introduced the Royal Escape Room concept, and refreshed the pool deck with a Caribbean-inspired look.
After completing the refit in May, Liberty of the Seas began a series of cruises departing from Southampton.
