Norwegian Viva Launches Inaugural Season from Galveston, Texas

By Cruise Booking Team

Norwegian Cruise Line has welcomed the Norwegian Viva to the Port of Galveston, where the 2023-built ship arrived on December 13, 2025, to begin its first Texas season.

The Prima-class vessel will offer weekly seven-night Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston through April 2026, plus a special 14-night extended voyage in January.

Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said: “We’re excited to officially welcome the Norwegian Viva to Galveston this season. Expanding our offerings from popular, easily accessible ports allows us to bring unforgettable experiences closer to home for more travelers. The Norwegian Viva was thoughtfully designed for guests to live life to the fullest, and we’re proud to introduce this world-class cruising option to Texas.”

Standard seven-night itineraries include stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and Harvest Caye, Norwegian’s private resort-style destination in Belize.

The 14-day sailing departs January 10, 2026, visiting St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands), St. John’s (Antigua), Philipsburg (St. Maarten), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), George Town (Grand Cayman), Cozumel (Mexico), and Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas).

The Norwegian Viva docked at Galveston’s new Cruise Terminal 16, a 165,000-square-foot facility that opened in November.

Rodger Rees, Galveston Wharves port director and CEO, said: “Opening this terminal has allowed Norwegian Cruise Line to expand its presence in Galveston. The beautiful Norwegian Viva allows our cruisers the opportunity to experience a world-class cruise ship. The U.S. cruise market continues to select the Port of Galveston as a preferred debarkation point because of ships like the Norwegian Viva.”

Norwegian plans to return the Viva to Galveston for another winter season in 2026-27.
