Carnival Hosts Grand Bahama Celebration for the 50th Independence of the Bahamas

A Golden Jubilee Breakfast was hosted today by Carnival Cruise Line in partnership with the Ministry of Grand Bahama to commemorate The Bahamas’ 50th anniversary of independence. According to a press release, approximately 100 members of the community attended the event aboard the Carnival Legend docked in Freeport and honoring present and former parliamentarians.

“Carnival wishes The Bahamas a joyous 50th anniversary and is proud to have served the country for the last 50 years,” said Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy. With the Ministry of Grand Bahama, we are working together to bring Carnival’s cruise port destination to life, allowing millions of visitors to experience Grand Bahama’s beauty and culture.”

Prime Minister of The Bahamas Hon. Hubert Ingraham was among the distinguished leaders on hand to celebrate the occasion. Deputy Minister Philip Davis and Deputy Minister for Grand Bahama Hon. The Ginger Moxey Show. A total of 35 Grand Bahama parliamentarians were also honored.

In commemoration of our 50th anniversary of independence, Minister Moxey exudes excitement about Grand Bahama’s future. Our residents will benefit from new opportunities as a result of our work with partners such as Carnival. Our sincere thanks go out to Carnival for continuing to be a part of this community and bringing a new cruise port to Grand Bahama.”

Carnival Grand Bahama’s cruise port destination continues to progress as work continues on the Golden Jubilee Breakfast. Featuring a one-mile stretch of white sand beach, a nature reserve, and an interior pool feature, the port destination will offer guests an exciting Bahamian experience with an investment of $200 million. Carnival guests will be able to enjoy Bahamian-operated restaurants, bars, and retail options.
