Norwegian Cruise Line Cancelling All Visits to Valdez in 2023

By Cruise Booking Team

Norwegian Cruise Line will cancel all of its visits to Valdez in 2023, according to a statement released by the City of Valdez.

Itineraries of the Norwegian Spirit, which made regular stops throughout the summer, included stops at this Alaskan port.

A series of open-jaw Alaska and Canadian itineraries will be offered on board the 2,000-guest vessel sailing between Vancouver and Seward.

As a result of this cancellation, we understand and share your disappointment. It is our sincere regret that the NCL ship could not arrive in our picturesque port as expected.

It was unclear why the visit previously scheduled for June 15 was cancelled.

Norwegian Cruise Line will be consulted to explore alternative opportunities and future collaboration, the City of Valdez said.

According to the statement, “We are actively working to develop new itineraries that will continue to showcase our city’s natural beauty and unique experiences.”

Valdez, a less frequented destination in southcentral Alaska, will be visited by Viking Cruises, Silversea Cruises, and Windstar Cruises in 2023.

As part of a 14-night cruise departing from Vancouver, Holland America Line’s Noordam will visit the port this year as well.

Three large ships are also scheduled to visit Valdez in 2024, including the Nieuw Amsterdam, the Westerdam, and the Carnival Spirit.

As published on the company’s website, Norwegian Cruise Line will return with the Norwegian Jade in 2025.

From late April to early October, the ship will make four trips to the city over the course of its summer program in Alaska.
