MS Nordkapp is named after the North Cape (71 degrees north latitude), the northernmost point of mainland Europe. He is one of the geographical highlights that can be visited on Hurtigruten's voyages.

MS Nordkapp was refurbished in 2016 and features modern arctic-inspired interiors. On board he has three different restaurants, a Multe bakery and ice cream shop, a sauna and a fitness room. On the deck you will enjoy the view from her 1 of 2 hot tubs. There is also a cozy bar in front of the ship where you can enjoy a nice traditional drink. The ship also has a large compass area with reception, tour guides, meeting rooms and shops.

MS Nordkapp was christened by Queen Sonia of Norway in 1996 and made her maiden voyage to the Shetland Islands. Her ship began her voyage along the Norwegian coast in April 1996. She was also in Antarctica. Since 2007, the ship has been part of the Hurtigruten fleet and is used specifically for sailing along the Norwegian coast.

Unique Features

A Hurtigruten vessel is a work vessel that operates regularly according to a fixed schedule. Ships transport goods, vehicles and passengers between ports day and night, and are an integral part of everyday Norwegian life. The ship calls at the port 24 hours a day. Some cabins may experience noise and vibration when loading luggage. This depends on the location of the cabin and the type of ship. Also, the effects of noise vary from person to person, and what is an issue for one person may not be an issue for another. Please contact our reservations team to find out which cabin location is best for you.

Gratuities

It is not customary to tip Hurtigruten ships on coastal voyages. However, tip boxes are placed inside the restaurant with envelopes if it is felt that flight attendants should be rewarded for outstanding service.
